| Key Note December 1 - 5 | | Note to Parents There are only three weeks in December and the students will need to turn in their three book summaries on the 19th. Please remind your child to read each night so that this deadline doesn’t sneak up on them. The December genre is realistic adventure and the book talk project will be to create a book mark. We have an Early Release Day on Wednesday, December 10. Students will be dismissed at 1:45. On December 12 we will go to the Minneapolis Art Institute for a tour from 10:00-11:00. Great books groups will continue to meet during December and will finish their fourth story on the 19th. We have met with our first grade buddies two times. Ask your child who their buddy is, hopefully they will remember the name. The magazine fundraiser is going on now and orders are due Wednesday, December 3. Have a great week! ____________________________ Language Arts • great books • commands and exclamations • guided reading - nonfiction books • word master practice • memoir - begin first drafts • word wall words - can’t, could, again, I’m, probably, doesn’t, new, knew, know, getting ____________________________ Math • extend multiplication facts to products of ones and tens • multiplication with multi digit numbers • estimating sums and products ____________________________ Social Studies • states and capitals of the Southeast • resources, geography, and agriculture of the SE • understanding island environments ____________________________ *
