| WELCOME TO FIFTH GRADE 2008-2009 | |
The fifth grade teachers are Mr Olmsted, and Mrs. Polfliet.
This year our theme is Extra! Extra! Read All About Change! Throughout the year we will have many activities and projects that emphasize changes in our world, school, and the ideas that will affect our exciting futures. We will use the newspaper and other media to provide opportunities for life long learning and provide opportunities to make a difference. CLICK THE PIC
In the fifth grade our students participate in many classes and activities. They are continuously encouraged to grow socially, as well as academically, through special units, games, skits, programs and field trips.
The 5th grade classes meet biweekly as a whole community to read a book, introduce a weekly goal or theme, discuss school issues, resolve concerns, and celebrate or recognize individual accomplishments. We are ready to take that Extra step to read, learn and make a difference.

Camp St. Croix On March 25,26,an27 of 2009, students will attend Camp St. Croix in Hudson, Wisconsin. The emphasis of this experience will be community building, becoming aware of our impact on the environment, and experiencing the natural setting of the St. Croix area.
We
will send out payment plans in early January. There may be
opportunities for the students and parents to raise money for the
additional programs of the climbing wall and predator/prey.
We
will meet in the spring with students, parents and potential chaperones
in order to pass out packing lists, choose cabin groups and study
groups, and talk about zero waste in the large family style cafeteria
at camp. We look forward to our 14th year of this fantastic learning experience. |
